We’re so proud that thousands of UK young people aged 14 to 17 and their leaders will be there as part of the UK Contingent. We expect lots of great young people to apply from across the county; unfortunately, we can only take 36, in light of this we will be holding a selection event on Saturday 22nd January. The day will consist of a chance to meet other Scouts & Explorers from around the county and take part in some fun-filled activities. During the day we will be looking out for Teamwork, Creativity, Problem Solving, Attitude and Communication skills.

If you would like to know more about the next Jamboree, the UK Scout website has a load of information and resources available here.

ROADSHOW

Following on from the success of the Roadshow we have decided to hold a second Roadshow on Wednesday 12th January at 20:00. If you would like to join this roadshow please register your interest here. You can also catch up with the recording from the first Roadshow event here.

The World Scout Jamboree is an event, attended by tens of thousands of Scouts from around the world who are aged 14 to 17. It happens every 4 years, each time hosted by a different country. The first World Scout Jamboree took place in England in 1920 and since then 24 such events have been held. The most Recent World Scout Jamboree was hosted in 2019 by North America, where there was well over 40000 participants and adults attending
The 25th World Scout Jamboree is being held in SaeManGuem on the west coast of South Korea. The Jamboree itself runs from the 1st to the 12th August 2023, however you should plan to be away for three weeks as there will be pre and/or post events organised by the UK Continent.
The Jamboree is open to anybody who will be aged between 14 and 17 during the jamboree, which means you must be born between 22 July 2005 and 31 July 2009. If you are too young to attend the jamboree in 2023; you will be eligible for the next Jamboree in 2027 in Poland.
After you have applied, we will confirm that we have received your confirmation (normally within a couple of days). Once the details are confirmed for the selection event we will contact everyone and let them know the location and any other details that are needed.
No. To encourage as many people as possible to attend there is no cost for the selection event.
To make the selection process fair; we are only holding one selection event.
The cost of the Jamboree is £4000. The fee includes everything; the Jamboree, Flights, Transfers, Food, Pre & Post Events, Kit & Equipment, Accommodation, Activities, Training events and Insurance.
We appreciate that the fee is a lot of money but we want to create the most diverse and inclusive Contingent ever to attend a World Scout Jamboree. That means that cost shouldn’t be a barrier for anyone and as with all Scouting activities, we don’t want people to be put off applying to attend the Jamboree on financial grounds: A large part of the journey is raising the fee. The UK Contingent are actively encouraging all members to act together and fundraise as Units and individuals and will be launching a ‘funding hub’ soon to share tips on fundraising.
