Jordan, our County Youth Commissioner intends to stand down from the role at the end of the summer. Over the last 3 years he has worked tirelessly to promote Youth Shaped Scouting across the County and will be recognisable to many of you as DJ Stan from Kernow 22. He has also helped shape the county through his place on the Trustee board, something that I have asked him to consider continuing after his CYC role ends.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jordan for all he has done during his time as our County Youth Commissioner. He has become a valuable member of my team, and has ensured that we keep our Youth Members at the heart of our decision-making processes. He will be missed as Youth Commissioner, but I am sure it is not the last we will see of DJ Stan!
With Jordan stepping down, we are looking to find his successor in the role! Our new County Youth Commissioner will need to have a passion for Youth Shaped Scouting and the confidence to speak out at meetings to ensure that the County team continues to keep our Youth members at the core of everything we do. We are looking for someone who will excite and inspire our leaders to embrace Youth Shaped Scouting, and who will hold me and my team to account if we are failing to achieve this goal.
If you are interested, know someone you wish to nominate, or want to find out more about the role, then please either contact Jordan or me and we will be more than happy to help. There is also a full role description that can be found on the Scout website using the following link, https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/running-things-locally/recruiting-and-managing-volunteers/role-descriptions/countyarea-roles/
To apply please use the application form, if you want to nominate someone who you think would be great for the role then please email Jordan or me as soon as possible so we can get in touch with the individual.
Full details of the process, including closing dates can be found on the application form.
